days off leading to interstate travel

Took some time off. That never happens. Didn't make the most of it, but can see the benefit of doing this more often. Dug into our hard-packed clay soil to add a few black/purple shade loving plants. My forearms feel like burning. Took the planting indoors adding some sculpey animals after my six yr. old neighbor inspired some claytime.

Went back out to attend to our 30' tall hedge acting as a tree. It needed a haircut so I climbed up and trimmed away. Forgot to put my gloves back on for the second round.

Decided that chilling out with the cat and catching up on some movies was a safer bet.

Still haven't tackled the craftsplosion that is my half of the office. That can wait. There was beer to drink and games to play. Bex turned the convoluted Rabbids into a drinking game. Played the out-of-towners a few rounds next to the flaming fountain at Jupiter.

The inkodyne picked up from the Makers Faire needed to be tested (first attempt was a weak result, more later).

Ready to head to AZ in the morning, glad I get to skip TX for this week.

post weekend post

Maker Faire was great fun. Found free street parking after the crazy $20 official lots were filled up. Saw lots of good crafty stuff, bought a shirt that made me laugh: http://www.martinhsu.com/crabby-bear-p-27.html from a cute boy, enjoyed that these guys get a bigger booth each year:  https://sites.google.com/site/jetson/zombie-defense-solutions, and enjoyed some strawberry lavender lemonade from my favorite Monterey eatery: http://happygirlkitchen.com/.

Total Eclipse of the Maker Faire

Yay for maker faire 2012! Just got my ticket. As a special bonus there will be a solar eclipse on Sunday. Going to whip up one of these: http://www.exploratorium.edu/eclipse/how.html

Oh yeah, I've been meaning to do that

Procrastinated my way to the middle of 2012. I've decided to Spring clean my studio which at the moment has been deconstructed and stacked onto itself. Some before and afters will be posted...

Recently returning from a 2 month long stint of traveling between Utah and Texas has left my brain warped and fuzzy. Past 2 weeks have been spent reacclimatizing to life as I know it AKA lots of Netflix and sending out Mama's Day gifties a week late.

Candied meyer lemon peels in homemade lollipops using powdered sugar as a mold. Round 2. Still didn't win the carnival prize for guessing the temperature of the sugar before I poured it. Blobby, chewy lollipops of goodness, but they never really hardened.
